Leyton Flats: Pied Flycatcher and Spotted Flycatcher by burnt scrub south of Hollow Ponds.Rainham Marshes RSPB: Wood Sandpiper.Wanstead: possible Pied Flycatcher on a poor view and not entirely convinced after seeing Spotted Flycatcher with a fairly pronounced wing bar at the east end of Long Wood, but possiby 2 birds! and juv Whinchat.

PATCHBIRDING

It as taken me until the 21st to find something of note 2 BLACK TERNS juv's dancing around lockwood res today.
Here's one of the black terns, sorry about the crappy picture but it was taken with my phone i watched this bird  for about 15 minutes preening on the break water.

Also 1 Greenshank, 3 Dunlin, 20+Common Sandpiper.Wanstead Flats: f Common Redstart (possibly Monday's bird still), f/juv Northern Wheatear, Redshank (heard calling flying south over Alex towards Manor Park - Mega! first record (unbelievably) for the patch!).

Today I had a real taste of return migration with 8 GREENSHANK low over lockwood + that great call they make.If the water level was not so high they would have landed.
