Staines Reservoirs

Finally got to grips with the horned lark at staines res today and it showed very well feeding on seeds on the concrete bank.Also the bird was very tame and was only about 15 feet away.

GALLIONS REACH UPDATE

So the puffin seen drifting upriver at gallions reach turned up in SW london and was taken into care lets hope the bird is Ok.And here is the link to the photo of the bird.https://twitter.com/1TakeTaylor/…/585835855752880128

Today I was totally blown away when two of the local birders started jumping up and down and waving so being at the other end of Gallions reach I just got my gear and started running.I arrived and said what have you got and the answer was PUFFIN.I scope it straight away and watched it drift upriver. My london list is now. (274)

Today i successfully leeched the BLYTH'S REED WARBLER at wanstead flats which is the 1st twitchable record for london.And is only the 3rd record for london. (LONDON 271).

Surbiton: Wood Sandpiper & Green Sandpiper still on small scrape at Berrylands- viewable distantly from station, but well from hide.Brent Reservoir: juv Garganey, 4 Wigeon, juv Ruff.

Galley Wood, Lea Valley: Black Kite over.Crossness: 1st-summer Bonaparte's Gull (now rapidly advancing with a mottled black hood) 8.50am-9.40am off the incinerator outfall. Also adult Dark-bellied Brent Goose in Barking Bay early morning, then drifting east off incinerator outfall 9.30am. Grey Plover in Barking Bay 10.15am. Brent Res: Little Tern briefly at 08.15 then flew East.

Had a great day at the thames today when i connected with BONAPARTE'S GULL at greenwich.I would like to thank the birder i met on the thames foreshore for putting me straight on to the bird.LONDON LIFE 265.The bonaparte's gull is back at crossness @5.00.
