Beddington SF: Long-tailed Skua 10:45 flew SW. Little Stint.Bentley Priory: 3 Ravens in area between deer park and lake. Rainham Marshes: 2 Pectoral Sandpipers on Purfleet Scrape at noon then flew towards Aveley Pools. Also Turtle Dove south during morning.

• (Lockwood res) Knot,11 Common Terns. (KJMcmanus & Lol Cumming). Beddington SF: Great White Egret on main lake &1 Little Stint.Brent Reservoir: Ring Ouzel. Male seen briefly in flight by Canoe club at c11:00.Leyton Oliver Road: Bar-tailed Godwit flew south east at 10:25. Beckton: Sabine's Gull.

The first bird i looked at today on lockwood res was a KNOT this was my second bird for the patch.It's great finding your own birds.As you can see some more great shots by Lol.Cumming.

Rainham Marshes juv BAILLON'S CRAKE 07.30, 16th day. Also Common Scoter and Yellow-browed Warbler (Birdguides, various observers). 2 Marsh Harriers, Sparrowhawk, Hobby.Dagenham Chase LNR : 2 Immature Gannet flew over at 1:25pm.Brent Reservoir: male Redstart 08.00-08.30.

Baillon's Crake 

This is me in summer plumage at the baillons twitch which i did not see that day.You must admit it's a classic picture of a twitcher in action and so good looking as well.

I like to keep a record of my hits & dips of twitching in london. I have been on six trips to see london lifers and have scored on five times and dipped once which puts me a 83% hit rate which i think is not bad.

LONDON BAILLONS CRAKE

BAILLON'S CRAKE LONDON.

After 13 and a half hours looking for the BAILLON'S CRAKE i finally scored today putting me on 267 for london.The bird gave stunning views when it was preening,and also it was calling and also i see it swimming between reed beds.

I said i was NOT going back for the baillon's crake but now it's been joined by a AQUATIC WARBLER which is a LIFER for me.I will be back 1st light.

Black-tailed Godwit.

Rainham Marshes RSPB: Juv BAILLON'S CRAKE seen briefly at 06.00. Baillon's Crake was seen through the gloom and mist at around 6.00am but not tickable for the majority present - just a small grey/brown moving blob for a brief few seconds. Also seen: 3 Water Rail, 3 Hobby, 1 Little Egret, a few Little Grebe, Sedge Warblers and Reed Warblers. Also around the reserve: 9 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Green Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank, 9 Common Snipe, 2 Cetti's Warbler. (Neil Randon). Showed very well at 12:35pm.

I had one of the worst days birding yesterday at rainham looking for the crake. 7.30 to 8.00pm with no sign and i will not be going back.

Lockwood res.

Yet another great day at the patch when i connected with a PECTORAL SANDPIPER at lockwood res. This was only the second record for walthamstow a much needed bird by all local patchers bar one.(lol cumming).

A good day at lockwood today with a low flying TREE PIPIT over my head and it was also calling and soon after that 2 calling SANDWICH TERNS which stayed for about 20 minutes. Patch life 134.
